Aligned Assessments: Effective Formative Assessments to Meet Common Core Standards

How can formative assessment processes and tools be used to adjust instruction based on individual student needs and improve student learning?

This session provides a framework for thinking about the various types of research-based formative assessment processes and tools now available, from teacher-student interactions to carefully crafted educational games with embedded formative assessments. In addition, vetted repositories of resources specifically aligned to the Common Core State Standards are discussed.

Presenters

Nancy Doorey

Nancy Doorey has roots as a classroom teacher, spanning elementary through graduate levels, and then spent 18 years in educational policy and reform while serving on state and local school boards. She has advanced degrees in elementary education, computer science and educational leadership. Nancy currently serves as the Director of Programs for the Center for K-12 Assessment & Performance Management at ETS and does consulting in the areas of assessment, educational reform, and public engagement. 


Jason Chu

Jason Chu is Education Director for Turnitin. His focus is on working to build resources for educators, and his personal passion is to find better ways to enhance student achievement.  He will be moderating this webinar.
