Engaging Arguments: Research and Writing in the Digital Age

A Plagiarism Education Week Webcast

How are teens using of digital tools as they conduct research and write? What skills have they already developed and what are they still learning? To provide a window into these questions, this presentation will provide a quick-paced overview of findings from a survey of 2,000 AP and National Writing Project teachers, conducted by the Pew Research Center’s Internet in American Life Project. It will also highlight how the National Writing Project is working with teachers to help students build critical research and writing abilities.

Presenters

Linda D. Friedrich, Ph.D., Director of Research and Evaluation at the National Writing Project, leads NWP’s research and evaluation efforts and oversees the use and ongoing development of its writing assessment system. Her research interests include teacher leadership and professional development, writing assessment, teacher research, and the diffusion of knowledge and practice. With Ann Lieberman, Senior Scholar, Stanford University, she authored How Teachers Become Leaders: Learning from Practice and Research (Teachers College Press, August 2010).
 


Jason Chu is Education Director for Turnitin. His focus is on working to build resources for educators, and his personal passion is to find better ways to enhance student achievement. He will be moderating this webinar.
