BYOD and Student Engagement: Meeting Students Where They're @

Schools and districts are increasingly turning to "bring your own device" (BYOD) initiatives to address the technology shortfalls in the classroom. Not only does having access to technology in the classroom open new learning opportunities, it also offers advantages from the standpoint of familiarity and the benefit of meeting students where they already are technology-wise. 

In this session, Beth Herbert shares the challenges and benefits of implementing a BYOD initiative, and the impact that this initiative can have on enhancing student engagement and advancing learning outcomes.

Beth Herbert

Beth Herbert has been teaching English/Language Arts for nearly a decade at the Chandler Unified School District. In addition to being the Turnitin administrator at her school, Beth serves as a member of the district's literacy cadre that is spearheading the transition to Arizona's Career and College Readiness Standards and the implementation of the Bring Your Own Device Initiative. Beth earned a Masters of Education at Ottawa University.
